I'd like to see some posts about travel. In particular I am interested in whether there are really any worthwhile hotel or airline incentive programs, great travel agents, or better ways to save a dollar than just staying in dumps or flying through Atlanta.

I'll start:
So far I think Hilton has the best points system. You get to double dip Hilton Hhonors points and your airline (or other point partner) with each stay. I built up more points in three months on Hilton than I did all year on Marriott.

I am finding that most 2-3 star hotels are the same so I have even started staying at Holiday Inn and Best Western if there isn't a Hilton property nearby. All things being equal I will pick the best points program.

I signed up for Tripit.com. (See attachements) You don't book anything there (yet), just post your travel itineraries. They fill in the details and add maps, weather, and suggest sights. I started doing this in November and love it. All I have to do is forward my travel confirmation emails from hotels, airlines, car rental or travel agent and Tripit builds a very impressive itinerary. I know it sounds too good to be true, but it works. Plus you can link up with friends and figure out when you will cross paths. The really cool thing for companies would be to put all your employees on here and be able to quickly see ALL their itineraries. Check it out: www.tripit.com.

Have you noticed that rental cars have a lot higher mileage now? I used to get cars with 5-15k miles, but now I see 30-40k most of the time. I use AVIS most of the time and I think they take better care of the cars they use for their Preferred members. I used to rent National, but I got some pretty tired cars and the fun of picking any model diminished when the choices are just PT Cruisers and mini-vans.
